MLSZ and Marco Rossi extend deal to 2025
The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) announced on Friday that it has agreed a contract extension with men’s national-team head coach Marco Rossi until the end of 2025, thus providing long-term stability for the Hungary team currently preparing for this summer’s European Championship.
The Italian coach, who coached Budapest Honvéd to the Hungarian league title in 2017, took over the national-team reins in 2018. Last year, victories over Bulgaria and Iceland secured qualification for Hungary to the European Championship which Budapest will jointly host, added to which a sensational first place in their Nations League group ensured promotion to Division A, the top tier of the tournament’s next edition. All the while, Rossi managed to meet one of the federation’s key aims by continually introducing young, talented footballers to the national squad alongside more established names.
Marco Rossi’s previous optional contract extension would have expired at the end of 2022 at the latest, but following today’s announcement a long-term agreement has been reached; both parties are determined to continue the work they have started until the end of 2025.
